My Daily Routine
I wake up early in the morning at 5 o’clock after that I’m going to pray after that I’m going to take a bath. After that I take a breakfast which is porridge. After taking breakfast I’m going to school and I arrive at school at 7 o’clock. When I’m at school I’m doing cleaness in my specific area. After that I’m going to parade assembly after that I’m going to my class for morning session. After morning session I have a break time after break time I start afternoon session after that I have lunch at 14:30 (2:30pm). After lunch I’m going to do cleaness in my specific area or I’m going to play. After that I am going to parade assembly for announcements. After that I return to dormitory. That’s my daily routine. My name is Christina.
By "cleaness" here, they mean "cleanliness": weeding, mopping (by hand), "sweeping" the dirt walkways, sorting beans (taking out pebbles), and other similar tasks. There is no janitor to clean, the students must do it. The morning assembly always has the teachers check the uniforms to make sure all students are wearing all of the correct clothes. Girls: red skirt, white shirt, blue sweater, red tie, black shoes, and white socks. Boys: khaki pants, white shirt, blue sweater, black tie, black shoes, and white socks. If they are not wearing the proper uniform, they are hit with a thin stick (new every day so it will whip and sting more). The students are also hit if they arrive late (after 7:00). On Monday, the students sing the national anthem and school song. We are supposed to raise the flag but we don't have a flag pole yet. On Tues - Fri, several students are selected each day to give a morning speech on a subject they choose. After school on Tues and Thurs is sports: netball, soccer, and volleyball. We don't have netball in America but it is similar to flickerball using a soccer ball. On Friday, the students have religious period from 12:15 - 14:35 (2:35pm). The girl who wrote the routine lives at a girls hostel across the street from the school with approximately 100 other girls. They have a very short walk but some of the students have at least an hour walk each way so they must leave before it is light in the morning.
